In 1925, Harry D. Riemeier along with his son Harold founded a company by the name of The Harry Riemeier Lumber Company. They catered to the furniture and wagon trade industries selling primarily hardwood.
With the end of prohibition in 1932, the company continued to grow, by selling softwood to construct distilleries and whiskey warehouses.
New challenges were met with the start of World War II. The primary focus from 1940 to 1945 was supplying lumber and plywood to the war effort. This monopolized the business. Price -controlling along with a scarceness of resources became new obstacles for Riemeier. However, Riemeier remained constant.
Post war expansion led Riemeier into supplying lumber to the home building industry. The company continued to expand into pre-cut home sales, which incorporated large volume builders.
In 1955, the company officially became known as the Riemeier Lumber Company.
Harold Riemeier’s daughter Nancy married Kenneth A Franke in 1956. A new union was created and Ken joined the company as superintendent of yard operations. After 31 years of devotion Ken retired in 1987. From a young age Ken and Nancy’s two children, Kenneth A. Franke Jr. and Thomas E. Franke were a part of Riemeier Lumber Company.
With the passing of Harold D Riemeier in 1988, came changes. The company was restructured and is now led by Dave Hadden-President and CEO; Along with Ken and Nancy's sons, Kenneth A Franke Jr is Executive Vice President while Thomas E. Franke is Chairman of the Board and an Executive Vice President.
The Riemeier Lumber Company is now a fourth generation family owned and operated business. For over seventy five years Riemeier Lumber Company is one of the few remaining independently owned and operated lumber businesses.
We thank our esteemed customers, family and friends for our valued success and hope they will continue with us into the future.
